ETAL Group acquires the operations of Wound Magnetics

ETAL Group, through its British subsidiary ETAL (UK) Ltd., has acquired the assets of Wound Magnetics Ltd. (in Administration) and will continue the operations in Wound Magnetics’ current factory in Dundee, Scotland, under the name ETAL (UK) Ltd.
 
Wound Magnetics in Dundee is one of the largest specialist designers and manufacturers of bespoke wound components in the UK.
 
The business operates mainly within the high value, high quality, niche Defence and Aerospace industries in the UK and Europe.  Wound Magnetics has established the highest reputation for quality and technical expertise over the last 40 years within industry sectors acknowledged to have high barriers to entry.
 
Wound Magnetics is an approved supplier of inductive components to a range of blue chip clients including Ferranti Technologies, MBDA, Eaton, BAE Systems Hillend, E2V, Gyrodata and Kvaerner Subsea Systems.  
 
Typical applications include Radar and Sonar Systems, Guidance Systems, Communications Systems, Sub Sea Instrumentation, Command and Control Systems and Electronic Warfare Systems.
 
Typical projects include Tornado, Hawk and Harrier STOL Aircraft, TIALD Pod, Lynx and Merlin Helicopters, Type 23 Frigate, MBDA Missile Systems, Ariane Satellite Launcher, Airbus 380 and Eurofighter.

Wound Magnetics is an offspring of the Ferranti company group, and commenced its operations in Dundee as a manufacturer of magnetic components under the name Ferranti Professional Components in 1967. The business has been held by different management teams since 1994 until it was sold to ETAL (UK) in May 2008.

Wound Magnetics is located in the DundeeTechnologyPark in a lease hold, modern facility of 2500 square metres.
