ETAL Group  - a leading supplier of inductive components for the telecommunications and power industries

The ETAL Group is a leading supplier of inductive components for telecommunications and power electronics applications. The Group's customer base encompasses a wide range of electronic equipment producers including telecommunications systems suppliers and network terminal manufacturers. The Group comprises three business units that design, manufacture and market electronic transformers: ETAL Group Oy in Finland, ETAL Group AB in Sweden, and ETAL Group Ltd in the UK. ISO 9001 quality approvals are held by all these units. Manufacturing is principally carried out in Estonia and Sri Lanka. The Group also has sales offices in the United States and in Singapore.  Additional support is provided by an internal automation team, which designs robotic production automation systems.

Specialized products for demanding applications

ETAL provides larger, specialized transformers for industrial, military and healthcare applications. These products are customized and typically produced in small batches for customers.

Award-winning product development
ETAL operates R&D units in Finland, Sweden and the UK. In Finland and Sweden, efforts focus on custom components, while the UK unit is responsible for developing standard products. The Group holds numerous patents related to its standard products. The Queen's Award for Technological Achievement, conferred upon the UK unit, is further recognition of the design expertise within the Group. This prestigious award is granted only to companies who demonstrate successful exploitation of outstanding innovation. In 1998, ETAL was amongst fourteen companies so honoured, including such notable enterprises as Rolls Royce, BBC, and Smiths Industries. Additionally, the UK plant is an approved supplier of products requiring BABT, CSA, and UL accreditation.

Customers in a leading position in their respective fields
ETAL's customers are leading telecommunications systems suppliers, electronic equipment suppliers, contract manufacturers and many renowned producers of terminal equipment. In telecommunications systems, electronic transformers are used in access and transmission networks, exchange systems and base stations. The Group enjoys a strong position as a supplier of transformers for modems and various internet terminal equipment, with xDSL having emerged as one of the major application areas. Products are also supplied to other key industries, including special military and healthcare applications.

Worldwide distribution
ETAL operates a worldwide distribution network covering Europe, North America, Australasia and key countries in Asia. These distribution partners, numbering some 30 organizations, assist ETAL's in-house sales department and support our customer's designers and buyers.

Focus on automation
Throughout its history, ETAL has made considerable investments in automation, the first fully automated transformer production line entering service in 1991. Since then, the company has continually installed new automatic assembly lines, designed and manufactured by its own in-house automation team. ETAL's automation systems are compact in size and can be flexibly adapted to the product under manufacture. With our new-generation assembly systems, a single operator can control up to eight workstations. Such systems can be installed within or in close proximity to the customer's facility, ensuring the availability of critical components with the most effective supply chain management.
