ETAL Group celebrates 50 years of magnetic success
Leading magnetic component group faces the future with confidence
following a year of expansion and growth
Ditchling, Sussex, 14 June 2018 –ETAL Group, a leading manufacturer of magnetic components for the telecom, power technology, automotive and defence industries, celebrates 50 years in business in 2018. At the same time, ETAL celebrates ten years of manufacturing at its recently expanded Ratmalana, Sri Lanka facility.
Originally founded in 1968, as EGMTC (ElektronikGruppen Magnetic Technology Components), ETAL Group is a leading supplier of in-house developed high-performance magnetic components, primarily transformers and inductors. The business was renamed ETAL in 2008 when Profec Technologies, a Finnish manufacturer of inductive components was acquired and merged with EGMTC. ETAL Group recently added a new UK Research and Development Centre with a fast turnaround, prototyping and small batch facility. The announcement followed the acquisition by ETAL of Sussex-based transformer and wound component specialist Grandchain.
Commenting, Dan Phelan, President of ETAL said, “With recent acquisitions and expansions in the business, ETAL Group is growing and facing its next fifty years with confidence from a position of strength. With increasing concern for the environment, we are seeing great opportunities for growth in automotive, rail, and renewable energy applications as well as continuing strong demand in telecom. A core strength for all of our fifty year history has been our ability to create custom or optimised designs to satisfy customers´ specific requirements in the most cost and environmentally effective way. The addition of a new UK R&D centre strengthens our capacity in this field. Our recent need to expand our manufacturing base is a testament to the success of our approach, and our high standards of service and quality.”
ETAL is also celebrating ten years of manufacturing at Ratmalana, Sri Lanka. Humberto Salgado, Global Sales Manager at ETAL Group, said, “Since opening in Sri Lanka in 2008, we have continuously improved and expanded our presence there, investing in training and equipment. In 2016, we opened a second manufacturing plant at the site which increased our global manufacturing capacity by 50%. Our facilities in Sri Lanka are truly world class in terms of manufacturing capabilities, test capabilities and quality processes. Recently, our team there has benefitted from Six Sigma training.”
The majority of ETAL devices are custom-designed for specific applications, but ETAL also offers a range of standard components. Headquartered at the Kamic Group HQ in Stockholm, ETAL Group conducts its business operations through offices in Sweden, Estonia, UK, US, China, India and Sri Lanka, and through distribution partners in an additional 20 or so countries. Production takes place at the company’s own facilities in Estonia and Sri Lanka as well as through production partners in Asia.
